Not a new strategy, really, but mainly I've been looking for insider buys because who else would have a better idea of what direction a company is headed? I start by filtering out what P&amp;P will not allow (<$1.50 sh, <$100M cap). I then look for multiple transactions by more than one insider. This tells me there is some consensus about the company direction. I also look for a substantial trade price because it means nothing if the trades are only worth a couple hundred bucks. I look for at least 5 digits in each trade cost. <br>I then take it further and look at the usual trends - last 6 months and future earnings estimates. A recent upgrade or some positive news release is a big plus. <br>Case in point: Magnum Hunter Resources Corp. (MHR) (Not MERRILL LYNCH as P&amp;P thinks). I actually picked this one a little late but earlier this year this one fit the profile and provided a hefty 50% gain in just a few months. <br>So, I will continue with this strategy for now and hope to show some solid gains from it....
