About me
I'm just a "regular" guy with a job and mortgage. I'm married with 5 kids (youngest is 9 months old)...so finanical issues are pretty important to me. My first experience with investing started with my Individual IRA (about 5 years ago). As time passed, I became more interested in investing and market dynamics. I really wanted to have more control over my finanical future, so I started doing more research and planning on my own. It didn't take long for me to get "hooked." Now, I spend a little time each day reading the financial news, following the market trends, tracking my own investments, doing research, etc. Some people would say I have a "High" risk tolerance because I invest in more than just mutual funds (i.e. stocks, options, commodities, and FOREX). I just like to think I'm "diversified."

Thanks for following...and a big "THANKS" to Zacks.com!!! I wish you all profitable investing!

Gold is taking a short-term "breather," but still appears to be a long-term bull market. I decided to add another gold stock to my portfolio...which just happens to be the world's largest gold miner.

This is a long-term buy. Oil is way down this week...but it won't stay down forever. This is a limited resource that will become more expensive to find and bring to the surface over time. Plus, they recently announced a major oil strike in Argentina...which is a big bonus.

Wish I had picked this one up back in April when it trading much lower. Oh well. I'm still expecting gold to shoot up over $1,000 in the long-term, even it drops to $850 in the short. Time will tell...but I like this pick if you're looking for an upshot in gold and gold-related stocks.

Another offshore deepwater play. This one may fall to $33 per share if the overall stock market takes a tumble, but I expect it to trade much higher in the future. Good long-term prospects.

Looking to add some offshore development stocks...and this one fits the bill. Plus, their financials are rock solid! Short-term pain (perhaps), but l'm looking for a long-term gain!

New Gold, Inc. is a gold mining company focused on the exploration and development of the Afton Copper-Gold Project, located 6 miles (10 km) west of Kamloops, British Columbia.

This is a very speculative pick right now. I think gold and mining stocks will be very volatile in the short-term.

However, I am looking for the long-term bull market in all things gold to continue. As the price of gold continues to rise, I expect the share price of NGD will climb along with it.

Time will tell.… More

SELL: BANK OF MONTREAL (BMO) Rating: 1
Start Price: $39.44
Points: +5.49
Created: 07/10/2009
Canadians bank, along with most stocks in general, have been on a nice run since February. But is it really sustainable? I believe the Bank of Montreal is in the same position many US banks were in last year...and a drop is in their near future.

This stock is currently trading about $10 off it's 52-week high. I'm betting it will soon be near it's 52-week low of $19.32. Time will tell.

SELL: CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN INC. (CPKI)
Start Price: $12.83
Points: -5.44
Created: 06/22/2009
Another bet that an overpriced restaurant will soon feel the ill effects of higher unemployment and reduced consumer discretionary income.

I like good pizza as much as the next guy, but with the economy the way it is...I'm sticking with the $5 version from Little Caesar's...not the $14 ones you get at California Pizza.

We'll see if other people agree with me...and what the Street thinks.

SELL: P.F.CHANG'S CHINA BISTRO INC. (PFCB) Rating: 3
Start Price: $31.05
Points: +24.94

I'm betting that consumer discretionary incomes will continue to evaporate, and people will be eating less out less....especially at overpriced restaurants like PF Chang's.

Time will tell...

In anticipation of higher inflation, a declining dollar, and stronger metal prices, I am adding to my core holdings of gold-related stocks.
