I am brand new to this securities trading thing but think that I am hooked. Seems to be a great way to learn about how things work within this crazy world.
I'm in my late thirties, socially liberal, fiscally conservative and live in San Diego, CA USA. I am a mixture of French, German, Spanish and Irish. I have more hobbies and interests than I can count, most of them technical in nature. Some of my interests include aviation, robotics, artificial intelligence, cosmology and philosophy. I dropped out of high school in the ninth grade and immediately got my GED and enrolled in an IT school, where I received various certifications and other academic achievements, which ultimately lead to a full time career in the Information Technology field.
I love all music from Heavy Metal/Blues/Jazz to Classical/Cubano/Techno; and artists such as Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Devo and Metallica. One of my favorite shows is "The Office". Wikipedia is my favorite website and I would like to see Ron Paul for President, though the powers that be will never let that happen.
NetFlix provides most of my movie watching material which includes Sci-fi, Horror, Comedy and Action. Some of my all time favorite movies are Little Nicky, The Jerk, Devil's Rejects (and House of 1000 Corpses), Saving Private Ryan and Hellraiser.
I have been a computer technician, IT Analyst, software developer, database engineer and have done everything from design digital controllers to enterprise database and accounting systems. I also have a background in data and telecommunications. I've developed and/or supported custom information systems for some of San Diego's top companies, covering industries from Real Estate, Hospitality, Entertainment, Telecommunications and Retail.
This site will be my personal record of pursuit at understanding the world around me, in the context of securities trading, for the purpose of making money and learning. It is also an attempt to share this pursuit (right or wrong, successful or not) with those who may be interested in its endeavor.
The 'ultimate goal' is the enablement of my ability to 'solve the problems' that prevent me and my friends, family and the well-meaning and/or innocent people that I share this world with. I would love nothing more than to retire, and spend my remaining days helping the less fortunate, while pursuing some of my hobbies and interests. I know there are plenty of ways to mix these together.
When I say 'enablement of my ability', this is not because I think I'm special (I do not). It is because I feel a personal responsibility to contribute some benefit, no matter how large or small. I have made a lot of money in the past and have gone through nearly all of it for various reasons. In order for me to 'pick up the pieces', I need to boost my income; hence the reason that I am here.
This ideology may be in conflict with the one recommended by our hijacked government, which is to have us all go to an approved church every Sunday, catch all of the important sports/news/shows on TV, barrow whatever money we need, and consume our way to oblivion.
Sure it is highly unlikely that I will ever make any significant contribution, but what harm is there in trying if it is so desired? Should I 'discover an answer or two' along the way, I am more than obligated to enable others in the same way. This effectively turns any successful, personal enablement into a collective enablement.
However, it is anyone’s guess as to whether or not my life will be productive enough, to outweigh any potential harm that I may have inadvertently caused along the way (whether due to mistakes or pure chance).
In summary, please don't take my comments or opinions as advice. I am a meganoob at trading and will probably loose money in my picks until I get at least a small clue. I am happy enough if you feel you have been entertained by my antics, or have derived some other benefit. If any of my comments have offended you, I apologize in advance since this was not my intent, I'm just strongly opinionated and easily excitable. In turn, I hope you don't mind my stupid questions and ignorant comments!
