With the quadruple-witching event now concluded, I believe the Credit Suisse Group (CS) may be close to resuming its long-term downtrend, partially due to reasons I discuss on J.J.'s Risky Business blog this weekend.

Hey there Mack,

Well, much activity has passed in the last couple weeks. I've played the markets nimbly, trying to use the short term opportunities as best I can.

It seems like the downward slide may have started, I'm loaded up with march puts with leveraged etfs. Got more loaded up today. However, knowing the markets are so schizophrenic, I also bought half as many Dec calls. (just in case there's some ill advised short term bounce) I realize I may have wasted my money, but so far the European powers that be have shown they will do whatever that have to to delay the seemingly inevitable.

Looking forward to reading your weekend blog,
Steve

Howdy, Steve!

I've played the markets nimbly, trying to use the short term opportunities as best I can.

Given the current market-volatility storm, I believe almost all opportunities are short term in nature, so: Nice!

It seems like the downward slide may have started

If the next significant downward slide does not begin for another couple of months, then I think the main reasons may center on (A) recent options-market activity and (B) seasonality. But I agree there is a high probability it will happen comparatively soon.

Looking forward to reading your weekend blog

Please note the reference in my 09/18/2011 Comment above was to my GDP Slide Signals Recession. Soon. blog post (http://tinyurl.com/cnlak46), which was published the same day.

Good luck!
