Investors gave stocks the boost they needed, the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit new highs for 2009, it rose 199 points to 1, 223.09, Nasdaq Composite Index rose 32 points and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 41 points. November is typically a good month for stocks to get a boost; investors were making sure that stood true. Bond prices rose, the yield on the benchmark 10- year Treasury note fell to 3.48 from 3.50 Friday. Commodities such as gold and oil both rose in the trading session; the dollar however fell against other currencies.
