If you broke up Barrick Gold - ABX (2011) into 4 equal size companies - revenues and earnings (EPS - 12 months forward) would almost equal ABX 2007 full year revenues and full year 2007 EPS ($1.27). So what is ABX worth today when in 2007 it traded at $30 to $50 a share and gold traded at $600/800 an ounce? Next quarter eps for ABX will probably come in at $1.30+.
That's my estimate for Q3 - coming soon.
I own 2000 shares of ABX.
Peter Munk's Barrick Gold (TSX: ABX NYSE: ABX) mines and sells about 8 million onces of gold each year - for revenues of about $12 billion+ dollars annually.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrick_Gold Their total costs per ounce is about $430 an ounce - according to Barrick management.
