There was an interesting study done by Forbes on insider buying and stock performance. They looked at all investment newsletters that focus on insier buying as a signal for better returns. The study found that the reality is that insider buyers actully underpeform the market. The study did nothing with regards to insider selling. My advice is don't buy on insider buying alone.

There are lots of reasons to sell, but only one reason to buy.

It depends upon one's time frame. Was the time frame 3 week, 3 months or a year. For short term traders some insider buying helps. It is one little positive thing. Every insider purchase is not a positive vote for the stock. One needs to do home work based on other factors.

CWGriswald,
Please clarify the time frame for the study as mentioned above. The stocks move up and down with market, with earning news and what not. For me it is 2 / 3 week positive thing. Then I check for earning date. I also wait for first rush of buyers to buy on insider info or I will trade if the flow is positive and say thanks to market news flow and sell before the rush of buyers is gone.

Interesting - thanks - i was thinking of buying MON - sentiments had changed for agricutural stocks in last 30 days - i did buy again at 49.5 and sold at 59.50 - recouped my first time loss.

The Center for Food Safety, Organic Seed Alliance and Sierra Club have been trying to uproot the biotech beets since filing a 2008 lawsuit.
It is way the system works - how one group can hold some one hostage for right or wrong reasons.
Organic food is good - the definition and quality is too vague to pay the premium in my views
