That's the headline making the rounds around the internet.
An article published by Hank Greenberg (Sept 13) titled "Man vs Machines:Stock Pickers, a Dying Breed" relates the following:
"As stocks get swept into various indexes by ETFs and are actively traded via algorithms and machines, there is genuine concern that these changes are leading to the death of stock-picking as we know it. "

I have been stating this several times in my previous blogs and indicated last year, for that reason, that my equity plays starting in 2010 will be in ETF's.
I've recently found, however, that plays in biotech, due to the nature of the stock, are somewhat immune or less influenced by these factors. Biotech is more related to FDA decisions and trial tests and hence can be played smartly by someone who follows closely and keeps up on ongoing information. As such, my alter ego on this site is making biotech stock calls.
It's somewhat of a new 'game' out there. Technology and instant information and even smarter program trading has changed the nature of stock picking (IMO).
We wish you well.
