horsedentist's Blog : Quadruple Witching Week in Dec.- Usually Bullish

Every March, June, September and December, option expiration coincides with the expiration of stock index futures and stock index options. The event is called Quadruple Witching or “freeky” Friday. Trading Volume during Quadruple Witching typically increase during these unusual weeks. The best part is that December Quadruple Witching week is that: it has a high probability of being bullish. I’ve loaded up on stocks and options during the past few weeks I’m down to about 3% cash in my account. The markets general up trend since Oct. got me to this point now I’m ready to reap the rewards. I picked up some Chipotle Mexican Grill, CMG Dec. call options on a dip but it kept dipping further down and I doubled down this week. I’m too heavily invested in CMG right now but who has not that before. I added a small Dec. put option on Netflix NFLX this week. I’ve heard that NFLX is too over bought and facing increased competition. The best comment was that NFLX is a “dead man walking”. I think the NFLX put is lost cause and I will cut my losses on Monday or Tue NFLX just keeps going up short term. Like I said NFLX was a small play but CMG is another story I’m about at break even right now. This week should be bullish for the general S&P based on history. If my CMG option comes through it will be icing on the cake. I’m in a lake effect snow area and we just got dumped on with 30 inches of snow in 3 days. I’m looking for CMG to pay for a little vacation in the south this coming Jan.
