The company announced the completion of the merger of Biovail Corporation and Valeant Pharmaceuticals International following the approval of the merger by shareholders of both companies. The combined company is called Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. Under the terms of the merger agreement, Valeant Pharmaceuticals International stockholders will receive, for each share of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International common stock outstanding immediately prior to the merger, 1.7809 Biovail common shares.

The "quoted" closing price fer VRX on 9/27 is 63.25 according to Yahoo histerical pricing. Not sho how the special divie was adjusto'd out but ifn todaze closing numba of $26 dollahs (down .35 centavos) takes all adjustments into consideration I'm wreckin the necessary price adjustment heeeya at this fine establishment woan be too herd ta figger out. Fokes who owned 1 share of VRX at the close yestermaday (as Jim Cramer "might" advise) at 63.25 certainly didn't end up with 26 X 2.78 or $72.28 werth at the close today as you are 'suggesting" LOL 3J

Also beware fr future reference that YRCW affected a 1/25 reverse split today. So in 20 trading daze NE1 holding that ticker gits a nice bonus whenst the drop the "D" :-) 3J

Now it's trading above $4 dollahs which means the market cap is even higher. :o Also, pleez be aware that VXX will be affecting a 1/4 reverse split which comes into play on the open on Tues. And UFI is already trading with a 1/3 reverse split completed. *-) 3J

Sorry about that market cap rule. Our quote service is frequently inaccurate on that metric. But it looks like Kemet's reverse split made it tradable again.

I did find out that thur are a few playas who picked thatn up in 2008 befo the split in mid 2009. I SIRIously doubt thur numbas were adjusto'd fo the split. One o'the playas happens to be on the leaderbored and enjoying an estree 100+ points he/she doan deserve. This was a 1/2 reverse splitola fer the EVOL one. *-) 3J

Shares of Maxygen are lower after the biotechnology company distributed its interest in Codexis to stockholders.

It was originally announced in November that Maxygen ( MAXY - news - people ) planned to distribute virtually all of its 17% stake in Codexis ( CDXS - news - people ) to its shareholders. The company also plans to distribute $1 per share on Dec. 28 to shareholders of record as of December 17. Shares were lower by 41%.

Thur are gonna be reverse splitolas in 6 Direxion ETF's effective at the close taday. A few o'these ain even playable but here they bees:

Doing a 1/5 R/S, FAZ, BGZ, MWN, DPK, SOXS

TZA will do a 1/3 R/S. I already closed these plays out taday so the splitola woan affect my numbas. Lots ov the playas he have a habit of using these reverse split situations to "improve Simage" ...ifn yuns sheeple wanna find out who they are just make a list of active playas who are still holding at the close. ...and make note of who "the cheaters" are. Again, I doan blame fokes fer cheatin since it'll be the ONLY way you will be able to catch me *-) 3J

I see now, since I have no active picks since Tuesday, that I still gained some 200 points. Part of the reason may be a glitch where stock splits are double corrected with closed picks. That implies that with a 2:1 split, for a long closed position, the starting price is cut in half (as it should) but the ending price is doubled. You then get 100 points extra.
This has nothing to do with you, Brent.
I will get back in again when these issues I described in my latest blog are corrected.

My picks just created a duplicate record of one of my older picks, CYS (Cypress Sharpridge Investments), for no apparent reason. I don't know if it's being calculated into my score twice (not cool since it's down 26+ pts) but either way, it shouldn't be there. I haven't done anything on this site for about two weeks. Don't know what could have caused it.

Otay, I done did the research on TWM anna ifn you go to page 98 ov my closed picks you will "clearly" see that I closed it out "before" the reverse splitola date. Sooooo, NE1 who sez I cheated is FOS! In reality, you kin page up on this heeeya very bored anna see how I tried to notimafy the showrunner ov ALL splitola's in the Proshares n Direxion funds *-) Noooow, since I plan on getting to numro uno at this heeeya fine establishmunt witout any intervention in my flavor I am axin Brentski to make these adjusto's to my score. Pleez deduct 1343 points (I had an appx 10 point loss at the time o'the split) fo me TWM trade and add 10 points for my ALXN trade which ended up being a 90+ point loser whenst in fact I had a 10 point gain. I was given the closing price before the 2/1 split altho I was given the post split starting price. The windup? Deduct 1343 points from my score pleez, Brentski. Now "maybe" all the crybabies will STF up! *-) 3J

It "looks like" Ms Sim now takes keer ov adjusto's even in closed positions. It did not know that until now. Any one can go to yahoo website and down load price data for any ticker almost for last year or any charting service provides the data
It is a 30 second job with a charting service.
It took me less than 1 minute to point out errors.
30 cents(.3%) error is more acceptable that $700 error or 1300% error

Sheeeyit, a .3% error would wipe out 80% of the gains you netted on yer closed trades....you "sure" you want that? :-) BTW, Proove-it55, ifn you took you, Rimmie, and the udder 150 screen characters you trade heeeya under and lumped em nto one GIGUNDO ball ov sheeeyit you STILL wouldn have a "GOOG" trader. *-0 You kin improve the site dramatically by just going away. Ashhole and pee pee in meat grinder was freely used by star playerJJJ 3j in his attack on other players. Some statements have been retracted and some deleted. Like words pee pee in meat grinder were replaced by word hug your kids You decide.

You can apply the split price one day ahead and as such no one get away like a bandit and closes in wee hours when stock stop trading for few seconds. Like 3 j did with his ARMH pick profit.
I have already added a few as sell to test the web site handling of splits with cute remarks - like split pending - catch it if you can
Brent can also publish that split price will be applied ahead and every one can hold peace for two days.
Now it takes week to ten days (some time)

FAIR ENOUGH BY STATING WHEN THE EVENT WILL HAPPEN.

I also use Motley fools web site and I do not have to worry about splits or dividends. This site never adjusts for dividends.
That was the reason I did not add NLY to portfolio on P and P

Sample BIDU trade which he closed after 10 for 1 split , meaning he lost 300% plus while it shows he gained 100%
It will be waste of time as they do not mean much to scoring system now.

Another sample is 3j FAS trade closed on 2010/05/05 after stock split 3 for 1 - he lost 30% and still managed to book 62 points profit

We do our best to address errors when we find them. The site is three years old now and we have continued to make improvements.

P&P is not a revenue generator for us. As you know, the site is free. Very few P&P users actually buy Zacks products and the advertising revenue is tiny. So we have limited resources to apply to making the site perfect. We do the best we can.

If some users find a way to manipulate their score using errors in the system, I'd say that's their loss, really. P&P is not a competition with cash prizes. It's an opportunity to test your own ideas and see how they work in the market. If you spend all your time cheating, it's not going to do that for you.

I'm glad to see that you care about the site, and most of your feedback is helpful. So thanks. I would appreciate it, though, if you would let us know about errors on the proper threads, and allow us time to respond.

I agree it is a loss for every one who cheats.
it does not stop there as the same folks create unfavorable environment for who mind their own business, with slurrs, taunts and any thing inbetween.

You can see the blogs by 3J - his boasting and wrong remarks increased as he climbed up leader board using wrong tactics.
I was not evn going to look at him, except his pestering and remarks

I know site does not make money directly. No one knows when you are off and how long it will take to get answer back

I am not interested in determining whether errors in picks are the result of intentional actions by the members in whose portfolios they appear. Trying to make judgements and impose penalties would take many times more manpower than simply correcting the picks, and would benefit most members very little.

The DELETE function for deleting comments is not working (at least on my blog comments).
Can you please resolve this. The EDIT function works but it requires one to go in and remove all the comments manually.

I see now, since I have no active picks since Tuesday, that I still gained some 200 points. Part of the reason may be a glitch where stock splits are double corrected with closed picks. That implies that with a 2:1 split, for a long closed position, the starting price is cut in half (as it should) but the ending price is doubled. You then get 100 points extra.
This has nothing to do with you, Brent.
I will get back in again when these issues I described in my latest blog are corrected.

Profit55 suggested that I cheated here, but that is not the case. He apparently missed my report of March 4 and that these 200 extra points have been awarded AFTER I closed the picks and are due to a glitch in the P&P software.

Hi Brent, I just entered a few positions and they got filled, but there is a problem. There was reverse split in FAS and the return calculator is using the 325% change in price to calculate a 32.5% portfolio loss. Lost over 30% points in return from that split. The entry was yesterday 11-10-11. Do these things stick? or do they work themselves out?

Here bees anudder. ADPT did a 1/10 reverse splitola back in Oct. The ticker symbol then changed to SXCL. Ms Sim still shows it as ADPT ann the fokes still holding it in open positions should all have thur scores adjusted by a fackter ov 10 since the "proper" adjusto wuz never made. *-) SXCL "might not" actually be wreck-o-nized by Ms Sim as a valid ticker however. In that case the adjustos to the scores "should" still be made ann the positions closed out IMO. 3J

I can't find ADPT or SXCL in the system. Are you sure they're still hanging around somewhere? They found a good hiding spot in the database if so.

YRCW looks like an untradable piece of garbage that's not worth the effort of a proper split adjustment, so I disabled it.
