In the "Only if only I knew...." category....
If you had purchased $10,000 of Dietrich Coffee on January 1, 2009, you would have pocketed about a million. On Jan 1 DDRX could be had for only $.36 per share. Today it hit 34.89 per share before closing at 34.78.
While we're at it, how about a 1000% increase this year on one of my PP stocks, DAN.
Odds on favorite: The Santa Clause rally
What broker is the best to buy ETF's? I found a site that listed the ten best stock brokers to buy ETF's. It didn't list the broker I feel is the best however. It's hard to beat FREE! I mean really free, trade as often as you can with no minimum limit, buy one share if you want. This isn't for a limited time also, they claim it'll be ongoing. Now you need to buy 'their' ETF's but again it's FREE.....several to choose from (domestic or international types). How about Schwab's. I've already made money trading in and out of these.
GOOG.. Did anybody notice Google touching 600 yesterday...yep, about a double from it's low in March 2009.
Those that follow me know I like to follow trends. It might not be the best strategy for some but it's the safest in my opinion. I mean, why would you want to drive your car down a one-way street the wrong way?
Why do people short individual stocks? Isn't it a lot safer to go these three other ways: buy inverse ETF's, buy inverse FUNDS or use the leverage of OPTIONs.....
...... or insurance?
John Pauson, the noted hedge fund manager, who make one (if not the greatest) bets in Wall street history by going against the real estate market and mortgages, didn't short equities but bought CDS...which is a type of insurance protection against real estate mortgage failures.
Burt White, chief investment officer at LPL Financial in Boston, said
"What is going to drive this recovery is an improvement in business spending, not consumer spending,"
I disagree. Businesses will spend only if they see or sense an increase in consumer spending.
Is the current Dollar strength due to the market looking six months out? Won't that be the expected timeframe when the FED will increase rates?
Who said " Does anybody know what time it is, does anybody really care"
OK, the DOW is in the 10300 - 10500 range. I keep hearing that's up 60% from last March. Is that bad? is that good? I think it's nothing. Two years ago the DOW was over 14000....lots more room for movement folks...
Somethng to be said about 'cutting your losses short'.
In the PP game on this site, I always close any stock pick that gets around a 7% loss, sometimes even less. Even with carrying about 40-60 stocks at any given time, I still carry around a 65% accuracy rating and my overall PP scores is quite decent.
To me, it more important to know when to sell a stock then when to buy a stock.
