Cough, cough is anyone dumb enough to buy COF, ie, the worst performer in the S&P 100 index? I was just curious because employment is so bad and is only going to get worse. Does this mean that people actually wait for the unemployment news to sell COF? Apparently so, based on the stocks performance, the news of capital losses due to unemployment was HUGE surprise to the market with yesterdays 17% drop. The only question is why doesnt Visa give up?

Incidentally, one company making money as we come out of the whole might be PRAA, as late and unpaid accounts go to these guys to scavenge any meat from the dried bones of previously fat cardholders.

TickerBandit,

It trades at about 5-6X sales which is okay I guess. Seems to have decent growth potential, but we are looking at a very short time frame. Balance sheet shows accounts receivable have increased by 11 million, but could be attributed to growth and potential growth. From a technical perspective I would not want to buy it here. More research is needed to evaluate this.

ZBR,

What don't you like technically? Short interval looking pretty overbought but the price holds well as indicators relieve themselves. It doesn't presently meet my entry requirements on short interval but if it is a good pick ... one doesn't need to time the entry ... just the exit. In any event, its up 50% YOY and showing signs of trending up. Not many charts look like that.

Its up $5 bucks in the last week. This is due to the news. I would watch and wait for the hoopla to die down and see if it holds after a few weeks. I think there is a good chance of at least a $2 pullback. Further, the market really isn't supporting the buy side for the short term. I got my my assBEAT to many times in this market to know that its not a market to chase em. Thats the technical side from my perspective.

Now as far as the story, growth potential, fundamentals and so on, this would require more research.

ZBR,

Thanks for your perspective.

What are your thoughts on THLD now? It was up over 40% on the week when you mentioned it yesterday. Its pulled back 10% and testing trend. Is it a buy here?

I don't like THLD at the moment..... there was a big gob of it sold, might be forshadowing. CHS is looking up though, and I bet it beats BEAT.

Cheers

Hey what happened to the post saying they would take the bet, not to rub it in or anything, things can change drastically in this market and the situation could reverse. We should have put a timeframe around it and a prize.

Looks good to me, adding today.  Their symbol should be PRAI or PRAY LOL

I rmember when PRAA sold off everyone was saying that debt collectors aren't able to capitalize on the current crisis. It also has the Motley Fool kiss O' death, but it may be poised to trade up some. I'd personally like to see a circuit breaker or two to ring the bell, but maybe I won't be so fortunate this year. Oh way-ell. Anyhoo, smalstk, I noticed you entered a buy order for COF and banks today, you are braver than me. ;) I might wait for SKF to reach the 300-range.
