I feel that there are plenty of intelligent people here on this website that ought to be heard. Good ideas are valuable and despite the fact that we might not be powerful members of congress, we can change things by providing good ideas.

Howdy, Aldecoa!

I would like to take advantage of your first P&P blog post to note I appreciate your sharing of your equity-valuation formula based on a company's tangible book value, quarterly earnings-per-share estimates, and annual dividends, as well as an inflation metric (which I assume is the seasonally adjusted consumer price index for all urban consumers). Nice!

They've been hearing from fools all along, and judging from some of the responses on the Fool, I hope the govy does not listen to some of them. The government has no place regulating private enterprise salaries, stock options, bonuses, etc. It really boils down to transparency, which for a while was a buzz word, until the media got wind of bonuses. Part of the problem is calling something a toxic asset, when its really about toxic pricing. If information is transparent, you don't have Bernie Madoff's and Toxic asset backed securities because the information is available to the buyer.

Joe, I believe good ideas will stand out. I agree with government staying out of this, but we know they won't. So I figure that active investors should use this opportunity to say something. Who knows, a tiny shift in perception might be the catalyst to better times.
